Challenge
Using screens for longer than is suggested can have harmful effects on children’s physical, and psychological health. At the same time, screens are an attractive and and effective solution for busy parents. In addition to that, setting limits can be a turbulent process for both parent and child.
Design
Kuku pet is a smart device that serves as a companion for children and a helpful tool for parents. It promotes awareness of excessive screen-time and encourages children to take initiative while creating understanding between parent and child. The app enables parents to set time limits and monitor progress. When the pet gets tired, it signals that screen time is ending, and the activity wheel on the pet’s housing facilitates a smooth transition to a new activity.
Insight
Children benefit from visual feedback that helps them understand the passage of time. Moreover, when they have a sense of control, children tend to respond more positively.
